Wycombe 2-1 Tranmere

Wycombe earned their first win in five league games as goals in either half from Andy Rammell and Steve Brown clinched a 2-1 win over Tranmere.

The Chairboys snatched a 29th minute league against the run of play with only their sixth goal from their previous 11 league games.

Darren Currie's deep free-kick evaded Rovers' defence and Rammell headed his 11th goal of the season past stunned goalkeeper John Achterberg.

Superb save

Tranmere had totally dominated the earlier exchanges, with Wycombe keeper Martin Taylor saving well from Stuart Barlow on eight minutes.

Then central defender Mark Rogers scrambled Andy Parkinson's effort off the line.

Wycombe were given a boost six minutes into the second-half when Clint Hill felled Rammell in the penalty area and substitute Brown hammered the resulting spot-kick past Achterberg.

Achterberg's superb save from Currie's curling free-kick stopped Wycombe finishing the game off.

Tranmere got back into the game on 61 minutes when Simon Howarth powerfully headed Gareth Roberts cross past Taylor.
