Wrexham 1-1 Huddersfield

Wrexham's attempts to escape the Division Two drop zone were dealt a blow as they managed only a battling home draw with promotion hopefuls Huddersfield.

Both sides had chances in the first half. Wrexham's Lee Trundle brought a fine save from Martyn Margetson after 15 minutes before Huddersfield's Leon Knight hit the crossbar.

Danny Schofield should have scored for the visitors when he sprung the offside trap but fired wide, and Wayne Phillips again tested Margetson for the Dragons with a 25-yard drive.

Huddersfield's Welsh goalkeeper was again the scourge of Wrexham early in the second half when keeping out Phillips' header.

But after 52 minutes Delroy Facey slid in to give Huddersfield the lead after some hesitant home defending.

However, Wrexham replied quickly when Craig Faulconbridge met a Darren Ferguson corner to level the scores three minutes later.

The home side threw everything at the visitors in the final minutes, but Huddersfield held on to clinch a point.

Wrexham: Rovde, Whitley, Lawrence, Pejic, Holmes, Gibson, Phillips, Ferguson, Barrett, Faulconbridge, Trundle. Subs: Rogers, Thomas, Jones, Morgan, Edwards.

Huddersfield: Margetson, Heary, Clarke, Gray, Jenkins, Thorrington, Irons, Mattis, Schofield, Knight, Facey. Subs: Paul Evans, Ifil, Delaney, Hay, Booth.

Referee: G Salisbury (Preston).
