Andy Thomson kept QPR's faint play-off hopes alive with a last-minute winner at Tranmere. The visitors dominated the opening period and fully deserved to take the lead through another Thomson header in the 14th minute. But Alan Navarro was unlucky to hit a post for Tranmere in the 36th minute and the Merseysiders improved hugely after half-time. Navarro provided the pass for Jason Koumas to equalise in the 59th-minute. And Stuart Barlow made it 2-1 nine minutes later with substitute Andy Parkinson the provider. QPR refused to lie down, though, and Richard Langley levelled the scores with an excellent angled strike in the 76th minute. The game seemed destined for a draw which would have done neither side any favours. But Thomson headed the decider from a 90th-minute corner.
Tranmere: Achterberg, Hinds, Hill, Sharps, Roberts, Navarro, Thornton, Henry, Koumas, Haworth, Barlow. Subs: Yates, Murphy, Parkinson, Rideout, Price. QPR: Evans, Shittu, Bignot, Rose, Forbes, Palmer, Peacock, Langley, Thomas, Gallen, Thomson. Subs: Griffiths, Murphy, Digby, Paquette, Foley. Referee: F Stretton (Nottingham). |
