Andy Liddell reached a career-best total of 14 goals in a season with the winner in Wigan's victory over Oldham.

Liddell turned brilliantly in the box to hammer a left-foot shot past Gary Kelly after a flick on from Lee McCulloch.

But Wigan had to hang on in the closing stages.

Goalkeeper John Filan saving at point-blank range from Carlo Corazzin and Jason De Vos making a vital interception to again deny Corazzin.

Filan had earlier pulled off another outstanding save from Corazzin, with De Vos clearing off the line from Darren Sheridan's follow-up.

Cambridge Utd: Perez, Murray, Ashbee, Angus, Tann, Goodhind, Guttridge, Scully, Tudor, Kitson, Youngs. Subs: Marshall, Fleming, Austin, Jackman, One.
