Francis Green scored one goal and made another as Peterborough cruised to victory over Colchester. The 21-year-old coolly laid on the opener for David Farrell before slotting home the second six minutes before the break as Posh made the most of the strong wind at their backs. Leon McKenzie made the points safe 12 minutes from the end after bursting onto a long goalkick from Mark Tyler and slotting the ball past Simon Brown. Graham Barrett, on loan from Arsenal, nodded a late consolation for the visitors before David Oldfield hit the woodwork for Posh.
Peterborough: Tyler, Williams, Joseph, Edwards, Gill, Oldfield, Bullard, Shields, Farrell, Green, McKenzie. Subs: Connor, Forinton, Danielsson, French, MacDonald. Colchester: Brown, Fitzgerald, Ross Johnson, White, Duguid, Izzet, Pinault, Bowry, Stockwell, Barrett, McGleish. Subs: Keith, Gregory, Williamson, Morgan, Rapley. Referee: S Tomlin (Lewes). |
