Andy Campbell and John Murphy grabbed a brace apiece as Cardiff and Blackpool fought out a draw at Ninian Park. Loan signing Campbell saved City's blushes with goals in the 29th and 65th minutes after Murphy had fired Steve McMahon's men into a 2-0 lead. Murphy capitalised on poor defending to net twice within eight first-half minutes. Cardiff manager Lennie Lawrence's decision to send on Leo Fortune-West as a second-half substitute proved to be the turning point. The big forward chested down to Campbell and the Middlesbrough striker fired home the equaliser.
Cardiff put on the pressure towards the end, but they couldn't get the vital goal needed to take them into the play-off positions.
Cardiff: Alexander, Low, Prior, Gabbidon, Young, Legg, Boland, Maxwell, Kavanagh, Thorne, Campbell. Subs: Fortune-West, Walton, Brayson, Hamilton, Simpkins. Blackpool: Barnes, Jaszczun, Marshall, Clarke, Coid, Wellens, Simpson, Jamie Milligan, Bullock, John Murphy, Taylor. Subs: Hughes, Pullen, Fenton, Walker, Day. Referee: C Penton (Woodindean).
