Notts County heaped more misery on beleaguered Bury with an emphatic victory at Gigg Lane.

It took the visitors just five minutes to open the scoring when Danny Allsopp was allowed to head home an Ian Richardson cross.

Paul Heffernan nipped between Michael Nelson and Jamie Stuart to fire home a second before Allsopp raced clear of the Shakers defence to shoot past a stranded Paddy Kenny in the 25th minute.

Bury's misery was completed three minutes after the break when Dutch midfielder Marcel Cas went through to grab County's fourth.

Bury: Kenny, Nelson, Collins, Stuart, Connell, Forrest, Reid, Jarrett, Seddon, Newby, Clegg. Subs: Garner, Swailes, Preece, Borley, Lawson.

Notts County: Garden, Leam Richardson, Fenton, Ireland, Nicholson, Cas, Caskey, Brough, Liburd, Heffernan, Allsopp. Subs: Mildenhall, Warren, McNamara, Hackworth, Stone.

Referee: M Clattenburg (Cramlington)
