Warren Feeney's brace inspired Bournemouth to a scintillating victory over Northampton, their first win in eight games.

The striker put the Cherries in front in the 32nd minute and Northampton were reduced to 10 men six minutes later when Duncan Spedding was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

The visitors equalised just before the break when Paul McGregor sidefooted home at the far post, but Bournemouth made their extra man advantage count after the break.

Jason Tindall restored the lead before Derek Holmes, Feeney and Stephen Purches completed the rout.

Bournemouth: Stewart, Young, Purches, Howe, Maher, Elliott, Tindall, Cooke, Hayter, Holmes, Feeney. Subs: Menetrier, Thomas, Eribenne, Foyewa, McAnespie.

Northampton: Welch, Marsh, Spedding, Burgess, Hope, Hunt, Hunter, Hargreaves, McGregor, Gabbiadini, Forrester. Subs: Frain, Sampson, Parkin, Sollitt, Asamoah.

Referee: P Richards (Preston).
