Crisis-club Bury forgot their throubles to beat Bournemouth in what could be their last game at Gigg Lane. It looked worrying for Bury when the visitors could have gone two goals up in the first three minutes. Firstly, Carl Fletcher brought a fine save from Bury goalkeeper Paddy Kenny before Shaun Maher rattled the crossbar with a header. Bournemouth took the lead in the 14th minute when Derek Holmes rose unchallenged to head home a James Hayter corner. The home side gradually got themselves back into the game and deservedly levelled in first-half stoppage time. David Borley's cross was only half-cleared and George Clegg fired a low drive past Gareth Stewart in the Bournemouth goal. Bury then roared into the lead after 63 minutes when, following a long Sam Collins throw-in, Jason Jarrett headed the ball against the crossbar and Ian Lawson swept home the rebound.
Bury: Kenny, Collins, Redmond, Nelson, Unsworth, Forrest, Jarrett, Stuart, Lawson, Newby, Clegg. Subs: Garner, Reid, Preece, Connell, Borley. Bournemouth: Stewart, Tindall, Maher, Howe, Purches, O'Connor, Carl Fletcher, Hughes, Hayter, Holmes, Feeney. Subs: Menetrier, Eribenne, Elliott, McAnespie, Thomas. Referee: F Stretton (Nottingham).
