Jamie Forrester's 13th league goal of the season proved lucky for Northampton as they came from behind to beat Peterborough 2-1. Jimmy Bullard gave Posh the perfect start with a sizzling free-kick after only two minutes. But Sam Parkin headed Northampton back on level terms in the 17th minute. Northampton's Marco Gabbiadini and Paul McGregor forced keeper Mark Tyler into action, before Forrester grabbed what proved to be the winner from a 39th minute free-kick, which completely deceived the Peterborough keeper. Top scorer Leon McKenzie had chances in the first half for Peterborough. But once he departed at half-time the visitors lacked firepower and Northampton held on to claim a vital victory in their fight against relegation.
Northampton: Welch, Hunter, Marsh, Sampson, Burgess, McGregor, Hunt, Hargreaves, Gabbiadini, Forrester, Parkin. Subs: Hodge, Sollitt, Hope, Asamoah, Dempsey. Peterborough: Tyler, Joseph, Williams, Rea, Edwards, Farrell, Forsyth, Oldfield, Bullard, McKenzie, Forinton. Subs: Connor, Fenn, French, MacDonald, Cowan. Referee: B Knight (Orpington).
