A superb performance by Jason Bowen eased Cardiff to a win over Swindon Town. Bowen fired in two second-half goals to add to an early Robert Earnshaw strike. City's win was tempered though by injuries to Earnshaw and his replacement Gavin Gordon. Earnshaw opened the scoring with his 14th goal of the season when he picked up an Andy Gurney back pass to fire into an empty net. However Earnshaw soon limped off with a recurrence of his hamstring strain. Swindon offered sterner resistance at the start of the second half but their spirit was broken with two goals in nine minutes from the irrepressible Bowen. The win keeps City's hopes of promotion to the First Division very much alive.
Cardiff: Alexander, Gabbidon, Weston, Young, Legg, Hamilton, Kavanagh, Boland, Bonner, Earnshaw, Bowen. Subs: Prior, Brayson, Simpkins, Gordon, Thorne. Swindon: Griemink, Gurney, Willis, Heywood, Davis, Hewlett, Robinson, McAreavey, Duke, Sabin, Invincibile. Subs: Howe, Farr, Grazioli, Foley, Nathan Edwards. Referee: P Dowd (Stoke-on-Trent).
