Cardiff stormed back into the Division Two promotion race with a well-deserved 2-0 home victory over high-flying Stoke at Ninian Park.

Iceland international Bjarni Gudjonsson helped them on their way with a 19th-minute own goal and Andy Legg sealed an impressive victory with a 71st-minute header.

It was a superb performance by the Bluebirds who retained their wing-back system to earn a second successive clean sheet.

Des Hamilton came in for the suspended Willie Boland and his powerful running caused the visitors many problems.

The Cardiff midfield ran the show, with skipper Graham Kavanagh outstanding against his former club, and City are now right back in the promotion frame.
