Wrexham had to settle for a valuable point in their fight against relegation from a goalless draw with Wycombe.

But manager Denis Smith will feel it was a game his side should have won.

Wrexham began brightly and Brian Carey almost headed the opening goal after 14 minutes following Darren Ferguson's corner, only for the Wycombe dfence to scramble the ball clear.

At the other end, Jason Cousins headed wide from six yards before Dannie Bulman's shot just missed the target.

Andrew Morrell headed another chance wide for the Dragons following a Ferguson corner after 41 minutes before Martin Taylor parried Ferguson's shot from six yards just after the interval.

Taylor was at his best to tip Michael Blackwood's shot over the crossbar before Hector Sam drilled a right-foot shot wide as Wrexham dominated.

The Wycombe keeper then kept out Stephen Thomas' shot before Wayne Phillips failed to hit the target with a left-foot effort.

Wrexham: Rogers, Whitley, Carey, Roberts, Holmes, Thomas, Phillips, Ferguson, Blackwood, Morrell, Sam. Subs: Walsh, Lawrence, Chalk, Edwards, Gibson.

Wycombe: Taylor, Ryan, Cousins, Rogers, Brown, Carroll, Bulman, Simpson, Currie, Roberts, McSporran. Subs: Devine, Holligan, Lee, Osborn, Johnson.
