Chesterfield staged a rousing second-half comeback to give Dave Rushbury the perfect start to his spell as caretaker manager. Club physio Rushbury, who stepped in after Nicky Law had gone to Bradford on New Year's Eve, saw his side go two goals down before roaring back to win with some thrilling attacking football. Oldham looked in control when Paul Murray lashed in a 20-yard shot in the 11th minute and former Spireites striker David Reeves set up David Eyres for a second after 47 minutes. But, just two minutes later, Mark Allott scored from close range, and it was from his cross that Glynn Hurst headed his side level in the 54th minute. Jamie Burt then scored with a low drive after 66 minutes and after Reeves missed a chance to equalise, Hurst raced clear to score a fourth in stoppage time for the home side.
