Wigan 0-0 Bournemouth

Sean O'Driscoll's Bournemouth side took a useful point away from the JJB Stadium as they drew 0-0 with goal-shy Wigan.

Paul Jewell's side are now unbeaten in nine games but still fail to put pressure on the teams above them, and they should have won comfortably against the Cherries.

But Andy Liddell twice shot tamely at Bournemouth's Gareth Stewart when put clean through, with Gary Teale spurning a similar chance.

Wigan's other first-half chance fell to Steve McMillan, who was inches wide from a Liddell back-heel, with Bournemouth's Wade Elliott hitting the crossbar for the visitors.

Jewell, who recently targeted a play-off place as a realistic ambition for the season, has now seen his side take only five points from a possible 15 with four 1-1 draws preceding this stalemate.

One positive aspect for the home side was the return of Canadian defender Jason DeVos after a long injury lay-off.

But it was not enough to prevent the long-suffering Latics fans from venting their frustration at the final whistle, booing after what they would have seen as yet another below-par performance from one of the best squads in the division.
