Danny Wilson's Bristol City stormed to the top of Division Two after a fine 3-1 victory over Cardiff at Ninian Park.

Cardiff have now failed to beat Bristol City in any of their last 20 meetings, with City enjoying their eighth win in 10 unbeaten league visits to the Welsh club dating back 30 years.

The Bluebirds had led through skipper Graham Kavanagh, who headed in from a yard out, but three goals in four second-half minutes took the points across the River Severn.

Right wing Scott Murray set the Bristol ball rolling, claiming two goals and giving left back Dean Gordon, on loan from Premiership side Middlesbrough, a torrid afternoon.

Lee Matthews ended a miserable afternoon for Cardiff boss Alan Cork, slotting Bristol's third goal to take the match out of the home side's reach.
