Two goals from David Reeves earned Oldham three points after victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. The striker, on-loan from Chesterfield, broke the deadlock in the 55th minute from the penalty spot. A poor back-pass put Phil Barnes under pressure and the Blackpool keeper was adjudged to have brought down Allan Smart in the box by referee George Cain. Reeves converted comfortably from the penalty spot and 10 minutes later, put away a far more difficult chance. A clever header from Darren Sheridan gave Reeves a shooting chance from the edge of the box and his rising drive gave Barnes no chance. There was a late flurry of chances for Blackpool with Paul Simpson and Ian Marshall going close as the Seasiders.
