Gavin Holligan scored twice as Wycombe beat Peterborough at Adams Park. The win lifts Wanderers to fifth in the Division Two table. During a difficult first half, Wycombe finally made the breakthrough in the 34th minute. Having seen a great effort saved by impressive Posh goalkeeper Mark Tyler, Holligan swooped to bury a glorious diving header. The game was delayed for 50 minutes through floodlight failure and immediately after the restart Peterborough came close to an equaliser. A stunning save from Martin Taylor denied Neale Fenn what had looked to be a certain goal. The visitors' defence finally caved in after 64 minutes when central defender Paul McCarthy rose unchallenged to head home Darren Currie's cross. A third arrived 11 minutes later, Holligan running on to Currie's inch-perfect through ball to drill his shot under Tyler.
Wycombe: Taylor, Vinnicombe, McCarthy, Rogers, Holligan, Brown, Senda, Simpson, Rammell, Roberts, Currie. Subs: Ryan, Carroll, Cousins, Bulman, Emblen. Peterborough: Tyler, Pearce, Joseph, Rea, Edwards, Farrell, Jelleyman, Shields, Danielsson, Clarke, McKenzie. Subs: Hooper, Williams, Connor, Fenn, Cullen. Referee: A Butler (Sutton-in-Ashfield)
