Tranmere 1-1 Wycombe

A 10-man Wycombe side held on for a point with a draw away to Tranmere. Steve Brown was dismissed after 73 minutes for taking a kick at home defender Steve Yates. It was a straight sending-off, even though Brown had earlier been cautioned. Jason Koumas had been unlucky in the first minute when his angled cross hit a bar and post without going in. But Tranmere took a 12th minute lead with an excellent strike from Shaun Flynn after some fine build-up play involving Koumas, Stuart Barlow and Nick Henry. Wycombe drew level in the 15th minute when Andy Rammell set up Darren Currie, who neatly chipped home. Tranmere made nearly all the second-half running but Koumas, Paul Rideout and substitute Iain Hume all missed good opportunities to steal a win.
Tranmere: Murphy, Yates, Allen, Sharps, Roberts, Flynn, Henry, Mellon, Koumas, Barlow, Rideout. Subs: Hill, Achterberg, Parkinson, Allison, Hume. Wycombe: Taylor, Senda, Rogers, McCarthy, Vinnicombe, Roberts, Bulman, Brown, Currie, Rammell, Walker. Subs: Carroll, Ryan, Emblen, Cousins, Holligan. Referee: M Brandwood (Lichfield).
