Bournemouth ended their dismal away run with a well-deserved win at Colchester. Two firm headers in the first 20 minutes from Warren Feeney and skipper Eddie Howe undid Colchester and boosted Bournemouth. Feeney's header came from a cross from Wade Elliott while Howe headed home from a James Hayter corner. Colchester pulled one back via a 30-yard free-kick from Karl Duguid - his first goal of the season. But the Cherries held on despite some sustained Colchester pressure and being reduced to 10 men when Feeney was sent off for violent conduct 21 minutes from the end. Colchester: Woodman, Fitzgerald, Gavin Johnson, Clark, Duguid, Gregory, Stockwell, Izzet, Bowry, Rapley, McGleish. Subs: Brown, Ross Johnson, Keith, Pinault, Morgan. Bournemouth: Stewart, Holmes, Stock, Purches, Howe, Hayter, Carl Fletcher, Feeney, Elliott, Broadhurst, Tindall. Subs: O'Connor, Eribenne, Hughes, Kandol, Bernard. Referee: M Warren (Walsall).
