Blackpool 3-1 Wigan
Blackpool maintained their excellent run of results with a 3-1 home victory over struggling Wigan.

The Seasiders staged a great opening and a thrilling finale, but in between Wigan completely dominated and should have left with a share of the spoils.

The match was sparked into life in the eighth minute when an inch-perfect cross from Paul Simpson was headed home firmly by John Murphy.

Murphy saved his side in the 44th minute when he headed off his own goalline after Neil Roberts sent in a goalbound header.

Wigan drew level in the 65th minute when Blackpool goalkeeper James Pullen rashly dashed from his goal and was adjudged to have fouled substitute striker Simon Haworth.

Lee Ashcroft took advantage to score the resulting penalty.

In the 87th minute, a superb run by Danny Coid ended with him blasting home a 25-yard left-foot shot.

Two minutes later, Blackpool substitute Neil McKenzie struck with a rebound after Murphy's shot had hit the crossbar.
