Wycombe 1-1 Brighton
Brighton remain top of Division Two after a hard-fought draw against Wycombe at Adams Park.

Albion survived an early scare when Wycombe's on-loan Aston Villa striker Richard Walker wastefully fired the ball wide.

But the Seagulls snatched the lead after 11 minutes thanks to some brilliance from defender Nathan Jones.

Home goalkeeper Martin Taylor denied Lee Steele before Jones controlled a slick pass by Gary Hart and delivered an inch-perfect pass to the edge of the home area, where Jones gleefully volleyed the ball past Taylor's right hand.

Wycombe, unbeaten at home this season, countered and Seagulls goalkeeper Michele Kuipers saved with his legs from Walker and Michael Simpson.

But the hosts were fortunate to survive after allowing Brighton's highly-rated striker Bobby Zamora a clear header from Paul Watson's quickly-taken free-kick which Taylor kept out.

Wycombe searched for an equaliser and were rewarded after 62 minutes but there was a degree of controversy about the goal.

Wanderers' big striker Andy Rammell appeared to handle the ball before burying an angled drive through the legs of Kuipers after Paul McCarthy had neatly flicked on a header.

The 2,000 visiting fans were enraged that neither the referee or linesman appeared to have seen the handball and Rammell almost incited a riot when he waved to the Brighton fans after being substituted.

Both teams had chances to win the game but overall a draw was a fair result.

Wycombe: Taylor, Senda, Rogers, McCarthy, Vinnicombe, McSporran, Simpson, Brown, Currie, Rammell, Walker. Subs: Cousins, Carroll, Ryan, Bulman, Emblen.

Brighton: Kuipers, Watson, Cullip, Morgan, Mayo, Hart, Rogers, Carpenter, Jones, Steele, Zamora. Subs: Pitcher, Brooker, Melton, Wicks, Pethick.

Referee: D Crick (Worcester Park).
