Notts Co 1-0 Peterborough
Mark Stallard fired Notts County to a second win in four days with a dramatic injury-time strike that sealed a 1-0 win over battling Peterborough.
With a goalless draw looking inevitable, the frontman burst through the visitors' defence onto a slipped pass from Darren Caskey and placed the ball neatly beyond goalkeeper Mark Tyler. Posh had started full of confidence, adopting a shoot-on-sight policy that forced County keeper Steve Mildenhall into a string of superb first-half saves. His best came just before the break when he flung himself to his right to tip a Marc Joseph piledriver on to the post. After the break Ian Baraclough's dipping volley was spectacularly tipped over by Tyler before Stallard struck to snatch the points.
Notts County: Mildenhall, Fenton, Grayson, Richardson, Baraclough, Cas, Owers, Caskey, Hamilton, Stallard, Allsopp. Subs: Garden, Warren, Nicholson, Jorgensen, Hackworth. Peterborough: Tyler, Joseph, Edwards, Rea, Williams, Farrell, Bullard, Danielsson, Forsyth, Clarke, Fenn. Subs: Connor, Hooper, Green, Shields, Cullen. Referee: M Brandwood (Lichfield). |
