Northampton 1-3 Blackpool
Blackpool forward Brett Ormerod kept the pressure on struggling Northampton with a double strike in his side's win at Sixfields.
After hitting both uprights in quick succession, Ormerod turned sharply to open the scoring in the 31st minute and grabbed his second on the stroke of half-time. At 2-0, goalkeeper Keith Welch kept Northampton in the hunt with a series of excellent saves, especially from the impressive Paul Simpson. Northampton lacked a cutting edge and fell further behind in the 78th minute when Simpson's free-kick came back off the crossbar and substitute Graham Fenton put home the rebound. Darryl Burgess headed home an 83rd-minute consolation for Cobblers.

Blackpool: Pullen, Coid, Reid, Thompson, Jaszczun, O'Kane, Bullock, Collins, Simpson, John Murphy, Ormerod. Subs: Barnes, Parkinson, Jamie Milligan, MacKenzie, Fenton.
