Huddersfield 0-0 Chesterfield
Goalkeeper Nathan Abbey left Huddersfield frustrated with a string of fine saves
to maintain Chesterfield's unbeaten away record in a goalless draw at the McAlpine
Stadium.
Abbey, a free summer signing from Luton, was chasing his fourth clean sheet in five games and was in no mood to be beaten. He made his intentions clear by pulling off a fine fingertip save to keep out Andy Booth's powerful header after 30 minutes. The young stopper then fell on the ball to stop Danny Schofield's point-blank effort on the line. The visitors had a penalty appeal waved away in each half with striker Luke Beckett booked in the 70th minute for his show of dissent. Town failed to find the breakthrough despite laying siege to the Chesterfield goal. And when Abbey was finally beaten six minutes from time midfielder Dwayne Mattis' shot came crashing back off the crossbar to safety.
