Cardiff 2-0 Northampton
Cardiff's Paul Brayson breaks past Rob Wolleaston
Cardiff's Paul Brayson breaks past Rob Wolleaston
Cardiff returned to winning ways with a victory over Northampton but it took two penalty decisions to see off the challenge from the Division Two basement boys.

Man-of-the-match Paul Brayson was involved on both occasions.

In the 27th minute his cross was handled by Chris Carruthers and the referee pointed to the spot after the intervention of his assistant.

Graham Kavanagh's spot-kick was blocked by Town keeper Keith Welch but the Cardiff skipper slammed home the rebound.

In the 71st minute Brayson twisted his way into the area before being brought down by Ray Hunter. He took the spot-kick himself and lashed the ball past Welch.

It was never more than a workmanlike performance from the Bluebirds but the victory puts them back on the winning trail after last weekend's disappointing defeat.
