Peterborough 1-1 Rotherham

Rotherham's challenge for the Division Two title was derailed by a draw at Peterborough.

Striker Leon McKenzie spoiled Rotherham's promotion party as Millwall clinched the league trophy with a 5-0 thumping of Oldham.

Rotherham's place in Division One was already assured, having clinched the second automatic promotion spot last week.

McKenzie broke the deadlock in sparkling style after 11 minutes, dancing his way through three Rotherham challenges before guiding an low, inch-perfect drive past the despairing arm of Paul Pettinger.

But four minutes later Paul Warne stroked the visitors level when he seized on a loose ball inside the box after Steve Morrow had only half-cleared from Marvin Ryan.

Barry Fry's team had the best chances to win the game, Dave Farrell firing a half-volley just the wrong side of the post before Tony Shields and Richard Scott both blasted too high from good positions.

The best chance came late on as Farrell brought the best out of Pettinger with a power-packed 25-yard drive before the keeper picked himself up to block McKenzie's follow up effort.
