Rotherham 3-0 Bristol Rovers
Jeff Minton made a memorable debut for Rotherham with two goals in a 3-0 win against Bristol Rovers.

It was Rotherham's seventh successive home victory and another giant stride on the road to an automatic promotion place.

But Rovers, in desperate need of points at the opposite end of the table, made a real fight of it until United went ahead after 44 minutes.

Minton's perfect pass split Rovers wide open and former Brighton team-mate Richard Barker raced clear to beat Nick Culkin with a well-placed shot.

In the 53rd minute, Minton netted the first of his brace, rounding off a flowing three-man move down the left with a first-time shot past Culkin.

Minton made it three for Rotherham with two minutes of normal time remaining, again after a three-man move.

Rotherham: Gray, Artell, Hurst, Branston, Bryan, Watson, Minton, Scott, Warne, Robins, Richard Barker. Subs: Pettinger, Sedgwick, Wilsterman, Hudson, Monkhouse.

Bristol Rovers: Culkin, Jones, Foster, Wilson, Thomson, Owusu, Mauge, Astafjevs, Plummer, Evans, Ellington. Subs: Clarke, Pethick, McKeever, Ellis, Challis.

Referee: M Ryan (Preston).
