Wigan 0-0 Swindon
Goal-shy Wigan lost further ground in the Division Two promotion race as they fought out a goalless draw in a dismal game at the JJB Stadium.

The debuts of new Scottish signings Stephen McMillen and Lee McCulloch failed to lift the Latics as relegation-troubled Swindon battled for every ball.

The best two chances for Wigan fell to Lee Ashcroft in the space of three minutes, but he miskicked the first after Jed Brannan's headed through-ball and then could not connect with a Carl Bradshaw cross.

Swindon had only one attempt at goal all afternoon, but manager Andy King was happy to come away with a point as the Wigan side left the pitch to a chorus of boos from frustrated home fans.

Wigan: Carroll, Bradshaw, Balmer, De Zeeuw, Brannan, McMillan, Ashcroft, Sheridan, McCulloch, Beagrie, Liddell. Subs: McGibbon, Stillie, Green, Roberts, Nicholls.

Swindon: Mildenhall, van der Linden, Reeves, Heywood, James Williams, Dukes, Invincible, McHugh, Steve Robinson, Alexander, Reddy. Subs: Griemink, Davis, Grazioli, Willis, Hall.

Referee: J P Robinson (Hull).
