Fulham 3-1 Crystal Palace
Jean Tigana
Jean Tigana watched his Fulham side record another victory
Fulham made it eleven wins out of eleven as they cemented their place at the top of the First Division - but Crystal Palace did not make life easy for Jean Tigana's pace-setters.

Louis Saha opened the scoring in the tenth minute when he rose high to head a Fabrice Fernandes free-kick into the roof of the net.

The Cottagers had made a confident start to the game and had threatened to run riot before Palace shocked the home fans five minutes later.

As Fulham failed to clear a corner Neil Ruddock, back in the side after suspension, forced the ball home from close range.

Lee Clark put the home side back in front in the 22nd minute. Bjarne Goldbaek put in a cross from the right and Clark seized his opportunity to drive the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Alex Kolinko.

Ruggedly

Clark got his second in the 59th minute after good work by substitute Barry Hayles.

The former Bristol Rovers man showed great persistence as he beat two defenders to send the ball across the goal for Clark again to drive home.

Fulham should have scored more and Saha and Clark were both denied by good saves from Kolinko while Fernades hit a post.

Yet Palace defended in a ruggedly efficient manner and were able to pose some threats of their own.

Fulham went through a spell of wayward passing and the visitors, who never gave up, caused some anxious moments in a home defence that never looked completely secure.

Fulham: Taylor, Finnan, Symons, Coleman, Trollope, Clark, J. Collins, Goldbaek, Fernandes, Saha, Boa Morte. Subs: Hahnemann, W. Collins, Davis, Hayles, Lewis.

Crystal Palace: Kolinko, Smith, Ruddock, Mullins, Rodger, C. Morrison, Black, Forssell, Pollock, A. Morrison, Harrison. Subs: Carlisle, Thomson, Gray, Austin, Rubins.

Referee: P Richards (Preston)
