Barnsley 3-4 Forest
Chris Bart-Williams
Chris Bart-Williams: Scored two goals for Forest
Nottingham Forest skipper Chris Bart-Williams scored twice as David Platt's men ended Barnsley's 100% home record.

Barnsley started badly, handing Forest the lead on 10 minutes after Carl Regan tripped Robbie Blake in the area.

Barnsley's best chance in the opening exchanges fell to Neil Shipperley who headed over from Woan's cross.

Alan Rogers extended Forest's lead on 24 minutes when he slotted home after Miller had palmed away Jack Lester's effort.

Bruce Dyer then went close for Barnsley but was denied when Beasant dived to his left to make a good one-handed save.

Exciting finish

Forest could have gone further ahead when Lester's delicate through ball found Blake in space but he failed to make good contact with the ball.

Barnsley responded when Beasant had to turn over a 30-yard strike from Mitch Ward.

Then Chris Morgan, being watched by Newcastle boss Bobby Robson, received the game's only booking for a lunge at Blake in the opening minute of the second half.

Forest extended their lead after good work from Lester. Robbie Blake's shot was blocked and Bart-Williams was on hand to knock in the rebound.

Barnsley then made a double substitution, bringing on Darren Barnard and Mick Sheron.

Barnard made a quick impact, crossing for Shipperley to head home after 67 minutes.

Seconds later Beasant raced off his line and Shipperley scored past him to give Barnsley a fighting chance.

Forest's response was instant, with Robbie Blake scoring from close range after being put in by Lester with Barnsley's defence in disarray.

Barnsley then reduced the arrears further when Dyer went through on goal and clipped the ball over diving Beasant.
