Burnley   1 - 2   Ipswich

Highlights - Burnley 1-2 Ipswich

Burnley 1-2 Ipswich

Burnley slipped to ninth in the Championship table as defeat by Ipswich put a further dent in their ambitions of a Premier League return.

David Norris put Ipswich in front with a left-foot finish from 12 yards before the goalscorer crossed for Connor Wickham to head his team's second.

Chris Eagles twice shot wide for Burnley and Nathan Delfouneso also threatened for the home side.

Jay Rodriguez eventually pulled a goal back with a 20-yard right-foot strike.

But there was to be no equaliser for Eddie Howe's team, who remain three points adrift of the top six with eight games of the season remaining.

The Turf Moor side have lost three of their last four fixtures and hit a poor patch of form at a bad time of the season.

Their next three fixtures are against Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Swansea - three teams who also harbour ambitions of promotion.
