Swansea   3 - 2   Nott'm Forest

Debutant Fabio Borini struck twice as Swansea reignited their promotion push by seeing off rivals Nottingham Forest.

Scott Sinclair opened the scoring with a piece of individual brilliance, beating a host of Forest players.

Borini added the second from six yards before Kris Boyd brought Forest back into the game scoring from close range.

But on-loan Chelsea striker Borini sealed the win on 56 minutes, smashing home a rebound, although Paul Anderson scored a late consolation for Forest.

The victory ends the Swans' three-match winless run and keeps them within a point of second place Norwich, who drew at Hull.

Sixth-place Forest though are now without a win in seven and are looking nervously over their shoulders at teams targeting a play-off place.

It was Swansea who showed their attacking intent from the off and were unlucky not to win a penalty after just three minutes.

Nathan Dyer zipped into the Forest box before being hacked down at the by-line by on-loan Paul Konchesky, but referee Scott Mathieson instantly waved away appeals.

'Terrific' win delights Rodgers

The home side continued to press with energy, jumping on Forest's slow build-up play and on 17 minutes Forest keeper Camp was called on to make his first save.

Stephen Dobbie sent a ball straight through the visitors' defence to Sinclair, who fired low from the edge of the box only to see Camp turn the shot away.

But the Swans were almost caught out at the other end when the ball was gifted to Kris Boyd who forced Dorus de Vries to parry.

That warning was enough to spring the Swans back into action and they took the lead on 21 minutes.

England Under-21 international Sinclair picked up the ball on the left and turned inside a couple of challenges before beating three Forest players inside the box, as he cut across it and then fired into the bottom left-hand corner.

And five minutes later, Borini doubled the lead.

Alan Tate set Angel Rangel free down the right to race into the box before cutting back to Borini on the edge of the six-yard box.

The Italy Under-21 international's first attempt was blocked but he made no mistake from the second, firing it into the top left-hand corner.

Forest rallied and Chris Cohen tried a cheeky looping shot from the left which De Vries had to get a touch to make sure.

But Swansea should have put Forest to bed seven minutes before the break when Dyer ran at the visitors' defence and unselfishly picked out Borini in the box, but his fierce shot was deflected on to the post.

Forest did not look out of it and they grabbed a goal back on the stroke of half-time when Boyd, on loan from Middlesbrough, collected Nathan Tyson's pass on the edge of the six-yard box, turned and squeezed it past De Vries.

Forest brought on Garath McCleary at the restart for Radoslaw Majewski, but they were caught napping when Dobbie was allowed to launch a shot at Camp.

Swansea always seemed to have the edge over last season's beaten play-off semi-finalists and the third goal came just before the hour.

Sinclair skipped in from the left and from a tight angle fired low at Camp who saved with his legs only to see Borini smash home the rebound from close range.

The Swans were control now and Camp did well to turn Dyer's 20-yard strike over the bar, before the ex-Southampton winger blasted another effort over and Sinclair wasted another chance.

Forest tried to get themselves back into the game but Paul Anderson's strike came too late, although he also hit the post deep into injury time.

But Billy Davies' side have now won just once in 10 outings.
