Wales striker Steve Morison robbed his countrymen Cardiff City of victory as Millwall grabbed a share of the points.
Cardiff's Chris Burke scored a wonder goal after a weaving run before a Liam Trotter penalty levelled for the hosts as Gabor Gyepes fouled Kevin Lisbie.
Lisbie put Millwall ahead from Hameur Bouazza's ball but Peter Whittingham equalised after Craig Bellamy's run.
Burke fired Cardiff in front but Morison chipped in to level again before Alan Dunne was sent off late on.
The clash between promotion hopefuls Cardiff and play-off chasing Millwall was overshadowed by the injury suffered by a Cardiff fan, who fell out of the top tier of the away stand into seats below as the visiting fans celebrated Burke's opener.
The supporter was taken away on a stretcher from the ground to hospital as a round of applause by both sets of supporters rang out. While his injuries are serious, they are not thought to be life-threatening.
Burke, only recalled because of injury to Michael Chopra, had danced around the covering defenders before poking a miss-hit effort through a crowd of bodies and it trickled into the corner of Millwall stopper David Forde's net.
Then as stewards and police assisted the unfortunate Cardiff fan, Millwall equalised from the penalty spot after Gyepes was penalised for bringing down Lisbie.
Trotter stepped up to fire home the penalty, sending keeper Bywater the wrong way to score his eighth goal of the season.
Cardiff and Bellamy, though, were outraged that they were not awarded a penalty moments later when former Cardiff favourite Darren Purse hauled down the Wales striker.
Referee Anthony Taylor initially pointed to the penalty spot but the Cheshire official changed his mind after consulting with fourth official Mark Russell - and instead booked Bellamy for diving.
Cardiff were further angered when an unmarked Lisbie nodded Millwall into the lead as he glanced substitute Bouazza's excellent cross into the net.
The Bluebirds responded well and went agonisingly close to equalising when Whittingham hit the post just before Bellamy headed against the bar
But Dave Jones' side did level when Whittingham fired in his second goal in as many games.
Captain Bellamy was the orchestrator, using all his pace to reach the byline before squaring for the midfielder to convert with an easy finish.
Cardiff players 'sick' after fan fall
Then Scottish winger Burke edged the visitors in front seven minutes later, bundling home after Bellamy's effort was parried by Forde.
But just when the points appeared safe for a Cardiff side desperate for a morale-boosting triumph, Bouazza found Morison in space and he finished from just inside the area to celebrate his 15th goal of the season.
It was another blow for Bluebirds boss Jones, who lost three players to injuries as top-scorer Jay Bothroyd, centre-back Mark Hudson and full-back Paul Quinn all hobbled off as Cardiff failed to win in their fourth successive game - their worst run of the season.
The Bluebirds remain in fourth place in the table but the gap between them and third-placed rivals Swansea City has widened to three points.
