Millwall   3 - 0   Scunthorpe

Millwall 3-0 Scunthorpe

Millwall 3-0 Scunthorpe

Millwall ended a five-match winless streak against Scunthorpe thanks to a fine James Henry goal and two late strikes from forward Steve Morison.

Morison shot narrowly wide in the 14th minute before Henry opened the scoring in superb style from 25 yards.

Rob Jones went close for the Iron and in the second half Josh McQuoid should have scored for Millwall with a header.

Morison made sure of the win when he poked in from a tight angle, and lashed home to give the result extra gloss.

With the game in doubt because of the weather, Millwall manager Kenny Jackett will have been pleased it went ahead on Saturday as the victory moved his team into the top half of the Championship.

But for Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough the result means his team sit perilously close to the bottom three - not exactly the sort of gift he would have wished for on his 40th birthday.

Millwall had the better of the chances, however, with Morison twice going close in the opening period after Henry scored his first goal in more than a year.

The on-loan McQuoid, who came on as a half-time substitute, would have been disappointed not to have marked his debut with a goal having scored two hat-tricks in a week last month with Bournemouth.

Morison then made the result safe nine minutes from the end when he finished well after a good run. He struck again five minutes later with his 10th goal of the season.
