Ipswich   1 - 3   Swansea

Ipswich v Swansea

Ipswich 1-3 Swansea

Ipswich crashed to their worst run of league defeats in 15 years and piled more pressure on boss Roy Keane.

Andros Townsend had put the Tractor boys ahead heading home Carlos Edwards' cross at the far post.

But in the space of six minutes Swansea were ahead, first through Craig Beattie who headed home a free kick before Joe Allen pounced on poor defending.

Edwards was denied an Ipswich penalty and Beattie sealed the win for Swansea with a fine 20-yard strike.

Keane's Ipswich have now lost five Championship games in a row and are on an alarming slide down the table.

But for Swansea, they remain third and closed the gap on leaders Queens Park Rangers to five points.

The Welsh club started brightly and dominated possession with Beattie forcing the first save from Brian Murphy when he headed down Angel Rangel's cross at the far post.

Keane won't speculate on future

Then came the turn of top-scorer Scott Sinclair to send Murphy sprawling to collect his low shot.

For all their possession though, the Swans did not pose enough of a threat and Ipswich were able to grow into the game and finished the first half on the ascendency.

Ex-Swansea striker Jason Scotland almost unlocked his former team on 32 minutes using his strength and power to turn two defenders before launching a goal-bound shot which Dorus de Vries turned around the post with a finger-tip save.

Then Tamas Priskin cut in from the left past three Swansea players before curling an effort around the post.

De Vries was the busier of the two goalkeepers and had to pull off another fine save just before the break pushing away Troy Brown's header from a corner.

Ipswich carried on where they left off and five minutes after the restart, they were rewarded with the opening goal through on-loan Tottenham midfielder Townsend.

Keane's side were by now in control and Priskin could have made it 2-0 had he not sent his header straight at De Vries from six yards.

That was to prove costly as Swansea brought themselves level on 64 minutes against the run of play.

Neil Taylor was brought down by Townsend near the by-line on the left-hand side and Mark Gower curled in the resulting free kick which Beattie - who was about to be substituted - headed home.

And six minutes later, Allen put the Swans ahead pouncing on Tommy Smith's failure to clear his lines from six yards to stab home his second goal of the season.

Ipswich rallied and should have have a penalty five minutes from time when Edwards appeared to go down under the challenge of Gower in the box.

Referee Andy D'Urso waved away appeals and Swansea went straight down the other end to put the game to bed.

Beattie picked up the ball 20 yards out and sent a sublime shot into the top corner for his third goal in two games and the first time Swansea have won this season after coming from behind.
