Doncaster   1 - 1   Swansea

Doncaster 1-1 Swansea

Doncaster 1-1 Swansea

Defender Angel Rangel struck three minutes into injury time to rescue a point for Swansea City in a thriller at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Doncaster thought they had done enough when James Hayter claimed his fifth goal in as many games from a header after 16 minutes.

Swans keeper Dorus de Vries later denied James Coppinger and David Healy.

Darren Pratley saw an early chance go begging for the visitors missing a one-on-one against Neil Sullivan.

The result sees third-place Swansea close the gap on Cardiff in second to three points with their first draw on the road this season, while Doncaster slip out of the play-off places.

Yet it will be Rovers who will feel more aggrieved not to have claimed all three points after carving out the game's best chances.

They set the tone early on and Healy thought he had put Rovers in front when he found the net after just five minutes, only to see it ruled out for offside.

Swansea could have punished them two minutes later when Craig Beattie sent Pratley clean through but he side-footed wide of Sullivan's left-hand post.

The lively opening continued and Hayter put Rovers ahead rising to meet John Oster's delicate cross from the left to head past the helpless De Vries, to claim his sixth goal of the season.

Rovers have now scored in their last 10 league games - the longest sequence in the Championship - and could have had more but De Vries came to the Swans' rescue twice in the second half.

Boss Brendan Rodgers hails Swans mentality

First, he saved from Coppinger's shot after being put through on goal and Healy could not squeeze the rebound home with a header.

But Healy, on loan from Sunderland, kept pushing and forced De Vries in to his second save turning the forward's header over following an excellent move.

Pratley was Swansea's biggest threat and it took a last-ditch tackle from Sam Hird to deflect another chance over the bar.

But just as Rovers thought they had done enough to secure victory, up stepped Rangel in injury time.

The Spaniard met Kemy Agustien's through-ball and swivelled inside the box before volleying into the top corner to salvage a point for the Swans.
