Leeds United   2 - 2   Hull

Leeds v Hull graphic

Leeds United 2-2 Hull City

A late own goal from Bradley Johnson clinched an unlikely point for 10-man Hull at Yorkshire rivals Leeds.

The Tigers broke the deadlock when John Bostock fired in a superb free-kick.

But the home side equalised when Johnson hammered home from the edge of the area before Andy O'Brien's header gave the men from Elland Road the lead.

Hull were reduced to 10 men when Bostock received a second yellow but they snatched a point when Johnson sliced a corner into his own net.

The result means Leeds have now gone four straight league matches without a home win, having lost their three previous games.

However, they came into the game off the back of two away victories at Scunthorpe and Coventry and began confidently.

But it was Hull who took the lead against the run of play when Bostock struck a 30-yard free-kick into the top left-hand corner.

Leeds continued to press after the goal and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 33rd minute - Tigers defender Anthony Gerrard's error gifting the ball to Johnson who drove in from the edge of the area.

Early in the second half, Hull had a let-off when Robert Snodgrass set up Luciano Becchio, but his curling effort hit the bar.

But the home side did take a deserved lead with 20 minutes to go when Snodgrass' measured cross was headed in by on-loan Bolton defender O'Brien.

Bostock's dismissal, for a lunge on George McCartney that earned him a second yellow, should have allowed Leeds to see out the game but in the 82nd minute Tom Cairney's corner was sliced past his own keeper by Johnson to give Hull a share of the spoils.
