Crystal Palace   3 - 1   Ipswich

Crystal Palace v Ipswich

Crystal Palace 3-1 Ipswich

Crystal Palace came from a goal down to beat 10-man Ipswich.

Palace keeper Julian Speroni gifted Ipswich the lead when he dropped a cross which Jaime Peters fired in.

Jose Fonte scrambled in an equaliser when Ipswich failed to clear before the visitors had Jon Stead sent-off for a late tackle on Freddie Sears.

Neil Danns rifled in a shot to put Palace ahead and Victor Moses latched on to a Darren Ambrose pass before confidently finishing to add a third.

The defeat for manager Roy Keane's Ipswich ended a run of 10 games unbeaten in the league and will again raise worries over relegation.

Keane's side started confidently enough and had deservedly taken the lead before some poor defending allowed palace to level.

Damien Delaney hacked a hurried clearance into the back of Ipswich midfielder Owen Garvan and Fonte reacted to smash a bouncing ball past keeper Arran Lee-Barrett.

Stead's dismissal gave Palace the upper hand and, along with some more unconvincing Ipswich defending, they made full use as Danns and Moses scored to secure victory.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock:

"I didn't think it was a red card (for Jon Stead). I expected it to be red, but I didn't think it warranted a red.

"We could have had more goals. I thought their keeper was the busiest goalkeeper.

"Even before the sending off I thought we had more opportunities, but the goal gave them confidence."

Ipswich manager Roy Keane:

"I'm still amazed when people seem to enjoy seeing players get sent off.

"Some players get involved when they should have nothing to do with it. Other players, other managers, trying to get players sent off. It's ridiculous. That's the horrible side of football.

"It's up to the official but officials are put under pressure in different ways - but when players are sprinting up to the referee trying to get a fellow pro sent off?

"Know your players, Jon Stead's not that type of player. It was a typical striker's tackle."
