Steve Howard's first goal in over 20 hours of football set Leicester on course to a superb victory over struggling Sheffield Wednesday.
Howard headed a cross from fellow striker Matty Fryatt.
Andy King doubled the home side's lead in the 26th minute, slotting in from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
The Foxes sealed the win when a superb team move saw the ball break to King, who finished smartly from 12 yards as the Owls slipped into the bottom three.
Having made a superb start to the season, Leicester have struggled of late suffering heavy defeats to both Nottingham Forest and Bristol City.
Foxes manager Nigel Pearson was rewarded for making four changes from the side that lost 3-1 at Ashton Gate, including recalling Howard and Fryatt.
After the former had given the home side the lead, his header provided Fryatt with an opportunity to immediately double the lead but the young forward's shot was saved by Wednesday keeper Lee Grant.
King made amends for Fryatt's miss soon after, slotting in the first of his two goals.
After the break Sean McAllister came close to pulling one back for Wednesday, but his goalbound shot was well blocked by Michael Morrison.
King would have the final word though, wrapping up the points with his second in the 73rd minute.
Leicester assistant manager Craig Shakespeare:
"All the staff are delighted for Steve Howard.
"He came into the fray and scored his first goal of the season and we hope he can kick on from here.
"We thought Howard playing with Matty Fryatt was the right format and you could plainly see that they enjoyed playing together."
Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws:
"You don't know which side will turn up and that is the trouble - we're like chalk and cheese.
"We made it easy for Leicester with some poor defending and you cannot afford to do that. All we can do is just ourselves down.
"But right now I'm hurting, the fans are hurting and I feel for them.
"We are in a rut, no question about it, and we have to turn it round as quickly as we can.
"But if results keep going on as they are that doesn't help me and I can't be more honest than that."
