Crystal Palace   0 - 3   Doncaster

Crystal Palace 0-3 Doncaster

Crystal Palace 0-3 Doncaster

Crystal Palace's unbeaten six-match run came to an abrupt end after a shock defeat at home by Doncaster.

Neil Danns was wasteful for the hosts and Doncaster took the lead just before the break when James Chambers crossed in for Billy Sharp to tap the ball in.

Palace pushed for the equaliser but Martin Woods poked in a fine second after a John Oster cross from the left.

Darren Ambrose twice went close for the Eagles as James Hayter secured the points when he turned in Sharp's pass.

Neil Warnock's side came into the match on the back of a great run but their preparations were hit with a cash flow problem which saw the players not being paid on time.

Danns was guilty of missing Palace's best chance and when the ball rebounded to him from six yards he could only shoot wide.

Victor Moses also wasted a wild shot and they were made to pay as the visitors fought for everything and took full advantage in front of goal.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock on the miss by Neil Danns:

"I haven't got a clue how he missed that. I thought he had had a bet on the game, because there is no other way to explain it.

"It was a bad miss and it gets worse every time you look at it. And instead of going a goal up we lose by three, which could have been five."

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll:

"In this league you have to not only perform, you have to do things like defend, and we did really well.

"I thought we were excellent. Palace are a difficult team to defend against and we took our chances well."
