Swansea City extended their unbeaten run to nine games with a dominant display to win at Scunthorpe United.
Craig Beattie set the visitors on their way on 32 minutes, the striker hitting his third goal in four games with a low free-kick that flew in past the wall.
The second-half arrival off the bench of Matt Sparrow livened up the Iron.
But Cedric Van der Gun then claimed his first goal for Swansea, a one-two with Darren Pratley sending him clear to beat Joe Murphy off the far post.
Swansea immediately stamped their authority on the game and they were nearly in front after five minutes, but Joe Allen fired wide of Joe Murphy's goal.
The Welsh side's crisp passing and movement was proving to be too much for Scunthorpe and the visitors fashioned another goal-scoring opportunity but Beattie fired wide from 25 yards out.
The former Celtic striker spurned another chance after 18 minutes, scuffing his right-footed shot after a defensive error.
But the big striker made amends 32 minutes in, firing a free-kick beyond Murphy and into the bottom-right corner of the net from 25 yards out.
Van der Gun was also proving to be a handful and the Dutchman set up Beattie, who was denied a second goal by a fine fingertip save by Murphy.
Scunthorpe never got into their stride in the first half, with Swansea proving to be difficult to break down.
Michael O'Connor had a half-chance on the stroke of half-time but his right-footed volley was comfortably dealt with by Swansea goalkeeper Dorus de Vries.
The visitors started where they left off after the break and after some good work from Thomas Butler on the left, Beattie found space in the area.
He unleashed a left-footed drive which was superbly saved by the agile Murphy.
The Iron showed more desire in the second half and started to ask some questions of the Swansea defence.
Gary Hooper raced away down the left but misplaced his pass to strike partner Paul Hayes.
But the home side were caught out after 67 minutes when Pratley broke from midfield and fed Van der Gun, who raced in on goal and produced a clinical right-footed finish which went in off the post.
Van der Gun looked to have been brought down in the penalty area 12 minutes from time, but referee Karl Evans booked the forward for diving.
Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins: "We got a good chasing. We knew Swansea were a good footballing side and they demonstrated that.
"Our work rate wasn't sufficient and our quality on the ball wasn't sufficient, it's as simple as that.
"Let's not use an excuse that we played two games at home against Newcastle and Sheffield United and on the Saturday went to Peterborough and on Wednesday we went to Manchester City.
"Obviously you look at today and we looked drained. Having said that, we gave two shocking goals away."
Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa: "It was not an easy game for us because it's a team [Scunthorpe] with a lot of motivation.
Sousa delighted at hard-won win
"In two of their last few games they won against Sheffield United and Newcastle, two important teams.
"We put our identity in the game, we controlled the game, we accelerate the game when we want and... I'm very happy because we dominate a lot.
"But I think we need to score goals and I think we need to be more clinical."
