Swansea v Blackpool

Swansea 0-0 Blackpool

Defensive kings Swansea squeezed high-flying Blackpool to a scoreless draw at the Liberty Stadium.

The Tangerines opened well with some creative midfield play, but the best chances fell to Craig Beattie, who had a penalty claim controversially denied.

Alan Tate missed a great chance in his 200th league game then Jason Euell went close with Blackpool's best chance.

Darren Pratley was inches away from a late winner, but 100-cap Swansea keeper Dorus de Vries had most to celebrate.

The Dutch keeper now has eight clean sheets from 14 games and is targeting Roger Freestone's club record of 22 shut-outs in a season.

Swansea are now on an eight-game unbeaten run and have conceded less goals than any other team in the league (19).

Blackpool have the best home record in the Championship but have only managed one away victory.

Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa:
"We were much stronger than our opponents today... with a lot of opportunities to score.

Sousa regrets disallowed penalty

"But with the recognition also about an outstanding goalkeeper [Matthew Gilks]... he saved everything.

"And also a little bit disappointed because we saw a clean penalty... these moments can make the difference.

"We are working hard on new moves during training so that we can improve our game and the players are becoming used to adapting to different opponents and their styles of play."

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway:
"We earned our point even though our keeper was the busier but if there was only one team going on to win then it probably was Swansea.

"Some of the decisions made by the referee were a bit finicky because this is a man's game and there were too many free kicks given by a fussy referee.

"I can't understand why Beattie wasn't booked for falling down in the area because it certainly wasn't a penalty.

"I was also disappointed that Swansea never gave us the ball back after we put it out of play when a player was injured.

"They will think they should have had three points while we are going away happy with one."
