Bristol City   1 - 1   Scunthorpe

Bristol City 1-1 Scunthorpe

Bristol City 1-1 Scunthorpe

A stoppage-time goal from Grant McCann gave Scunthorpe a well-earned point and brought to an end Bristol City's 100% home record this season.

Costa Rican striker Alvaro Saborio capitalised on a deflection and fired in his first goal in English football from close range to give City the lead.

Keeper Adriano Basso saved a long-range Paul Hayes effort to preserve the home side's lead.

But McCann had the final word, scuffing home a loose ball from a free-kick.

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson:

"I'm not going to be too critical of the lads because I thought we played well. But one good header from a set piece would have cleared it and won us the game.

"We conceded some unnecessary free kicks and if you do that and invite the opposition to put balls into the box you are asking for trouble.

"I was pleased with a lot of our play and I hope our supporters won't forget how well we passed the ball."

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins:
"It was an excellent point for us against a very good footballing side. We've had an excellent week.

"Jonathon Forte had a goal disallowed for offside, which I thought was very close but won't comment on until I have seen the video and their keeper made several good saves.

"Bristol's goal was a comedy of errors from our perspective, but we stuck at it, worked very hard and even with 10 men at the end got our just reward."
