Coventry 3-2 Sheffield United

Coventry secured their first win in five games after seeing off high-flying Sheffield United in a thriller.

Leon Best put the hosts ahead by controlling Sammy Clingan's pass and firing in, before Keiren Westwood twice saved superbly from Stephen Quinn.

Jamie Ward levelled with an unstoppable shot into the top corner, but Clinton Morrison poked in and Martin Cranie headed in a corner to make it 3-1.

James Harper pounced from close-range, but United could not find a leveller.

Substitute Ched Evans almost rescued a point for the visitors, but his late effort clipped the crossbar as Coventry held on for the three points.

Coventry manager Chris Coleman:
"I thought the players were tremendous from start to finish - there were some colossal performances.

"We've got a great three points, and there aren't many better teams in our league than them. We had to work hard for it but we did - and we got it.

"We just had that siege mentality. We weren't pretty; we've played better than we did tonight."

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell:

"If you don't take your chances and give away Mickey Mouse goals you don't deserve to win games.

"We spurned three or four nailed-on chances that would have seen off Coventry, there's no doubt about that, and then we give them goals.

"If you do that, you can't win games. Effort and commitment were there, but we weren't smart tonight."
