Stewart and Hendrie are swapping Championship clubs
Sheffield United have agreed to sign Derby defender Jordan Stewart on a two-year deal with Lee Hendrie moving the opposite way.
Hendrie, 32, joined United from Aston Villa in 2007 while Stewart, 27, joined Derby from Watford last year.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's an opportunity for Lee to get some football and allows us to make a saving on wages.
"Jordan will give us cover at left-back but he can also play wide on the left."
Meanwhile, Australia international David Carney, 25 has left the Blades to join former England manager Steve McClaren at Dutch Eredivisie side FC Twente.
Carney had joined the Blades on a three-year deal from Sydney FC in August 2007.
