Cardiff City 0-0 QPR

Cardiff City's Ross McCormack tries to create an opening for the hosts

Cardiff City dropped points at home for the first time in two months as the Championship play-off chasers were frustrated by QPR at Ninian Park.

Club captain Darren Purse forced QPR keeper Radek Cerny into a good save early in the first-half as he knocked Roger Johnson's flick goal-wards.

Dimi Konstantopoulos was tested by QPR's Liam Miller but Michael Chopra wasted the best chance for Cardiff.

The Bluebirds, despite the draw, move up to fourth place on goal difference.

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones said:

"It is a hard-earned point as they came with a plan to stop us playing and it worked. But it is a point gained and that is the way you've got to look at.

"We had some good chances in the first-half and we just needed the break but we failed to break them down.

"I thought we were defensively sound but we are going to get teams who won't allow us to play when we're at home and it will get twitchy but probably two years ago we would have lost a game like that.

"It is a good point earned and we have moved to fourth, we've still got three games in hand on other teams."

QPR manager Paulo Sousa said:
"We played very well against a team that wants to be in the Premier League next season.

"After last week's poor performance against Ipswich, we showed everyone that we can play good football.

"We have played well and created a lot of chances but we still need to win these games.

"When we don't get three points after playing so well it is frustrating but I'm always proud of the players, especially after coming here to a difficult place and doing so well."
