Swansea 3-0 Ipswich

Jason Scotland
Trinidad and Tobago striker Scotland celebrates his first goal against Ipswich

A Jason Scotland double strengthened Swansea City's Championship play-off bid as Ipswich Town were beaten comfortably at the Liberty Stadium.

The Trinidad and Tobago international fired the Swans ahead from Albert Serran's set-up in the fourth minute.

Scotland's second, his 11th goal in 11 games and 16th this season, was a cool finish from Nathan Dyer's assist.

A stunning Jordi Gomez free-kick, his 11th goal this term, sealed the win for Swansea who are unbeaten in 15 games.

Swansea manager Roberto Martinez said:
"We knew we had a huge challenge on our hands today and Ipswich showed in spells just how good they are.

"I am delighted we kept playing our normal game but goals change matches and we imposed ourselves upon Ipswich after scoring so early.

"I'm sure it was a pleasure for our fans to watch a performance like that and everyone kept up their standards, not just Jason Scotland.

"His second goal was superb and he is a great finisher who also holds the ball up well but every player contributed to the victory.

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton:
"I knew it was going to be that sort of game but we needed to stand up and be counted, particularly in the second half, and that is something that we didn't do.

"I can see why Swansea are doing so well because all their players are comfortable in possession but I was really confident coming here after winning three away games in a row.

"Our game plan was to retain possession as much as possible but we never had the spark that Swansea's confidence gave them.

"Emotions are running high at the moment but the players have just had a poor day and defended badly."
