Charlton 2-2 Derby

Nathan Ellington
Ellington's brace saw him double his goals tally for this season

Nathan Ellington's last-gasp equaliser at The Valley denied Charlton a first win in 13 games though they moved off the bottom of the Championship table.

Striker Andy Gray expertly gave the hosts a deserved 34th-minute lead.

But Ellington's impudent penalty following Jose Vitor Semedo's handball put Derby back in it after 64 minutes.

Charlton hit back two minutes later as Martin Waghorn fired home but Ellington opportunistically snatched a point for the visitors in the 94th minute.

Charlton caretaker boss Phil Parkinson:
"As kicks in the teeth go it [the equaliser] is about as big as you are going to get.

"We thought time was up, and where the referee got four minutes from I don't know. But we had to defend the long throw and we didn't.

"It was a superb performance and the players are very low. Everything we asked of them they did and I feel so sorry for them - they deserved three points."

Derby manager Paul Jewell:

"I'm still very annoyed, the performance wasn't up to scratch and we are low on confidence but we've deserved a bit of luck all season.

"We were supposed to leave our hotel at 1740 GMT but the police were half an hour late so we had to get the ferry over. But that's no excuse.

"We are low on confidence and we are the only people who can put that right - and a goal in the last minute will help us."
