Norwich 2-0 Ipswich

Second-half goals from Lee Croft and Matty Pattison saw Norwich pull away from the relegation zone with victory over Ipswich in the East Anglia derby.

Leroy Lita saw a header well saved for the hosts and Sammy Clingan fired against the bar, while Ipswich's Jon Walters was foiled by David Marshall.

Croft opened the scoring when he collected Pattison's pass and produced a stunning strike from 25 yards.

Pattison then lashed in from close range after poor defending by Ipswich.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"I have to say that one of the best days I've ever had in management was going to the Stadium of Light and winning 4-1 when I was managing Newcastle, and I didn't think that could be bettered.

"But without doubt that was the equal of it, especially as we didn't do ourselves justice the last time we went down to Portman Road.

"The supporters played such a big part in today's victory. The atmosphere was absolutely brilliant inside the stadium. Our lads were hugely motivated.

"I walked in the dressing room an hour and a half before kick-off and I didn't need to fire them up at all. They knew the need to win for the club.

"Any unbeaten run has to start somewhere and this would be the perfect platform. We are not a bottom-six side.

"This squad is technically very talented and it was no fluke to put five past Wolves. We've had our moments against the top sides but we have to prove we can do it against anyone."

Ipswich manager Jim Magilton:
"We've saved all our worst performances for the cameras this season.

"In tight games, if you get the first goal, it can see you through and we needed to put that away.

"But on the day they deserved the win and their moment in the sun. Norwich's intensity was very high and we didn't match that at times."
